I just upgraded from an α200 to Sony’s α77. The α77 is an all around better camera than my 2008-era entry-level DSLR, but it will take me a while to get used to. First up is the electronic view finder, which cannot provide the feeling of an optical viewfinder. All said, using the α77 feels a little like shooting film; ultimately you don’t see what you get until you’re done. But the EVF does a better job of giving a sense of what the manual settings will yield for a given subject by adjusting the EVF to better reflect a given shutter speed.
I took Willow for a walk this afternoon and took some pictures of early winter. We’re supposed to get a fair amount of snow tonight, so all of this will be radically changed tomorrow.
